Helping Friends Nepal (HFN) is a non-political, non-profit and non-religious Non-Government Organization (NGO), registered with Government of Nepal and affiliated with the Social Welfare Council was founded in 2011 by a group of young and energetic Nepali social workers with the objective of improving the education, health and living condition of helpless, poor and orphaned children from the mountain and hilly districts of Nepal. Particular focus is placed on the remotes parts of Nepal’s district: – Khotang, Sholukhumbu,Rsuwa, and Shankhuwashava etc. Due to the remoteness of these areas, basic education is essentially unavailable. HFN identifies children unable to pursue education because of economic situation of their families.
The main aim of HFN is to provide the children with a secure and homelike environment give them the opportunity of a decent education and, in the long term, enable them to become independent and self-supporting.
HFN believes that many individuals and groups, that know and love Nepal, are looking for ways to help the country develop and it is clear that a good education for children is a major factor in achieving the long term sustainable development of the country. We have been providing love and attention to the poorchildren in Nepal, as well as education, food and development social and health care. Anything is welcome: clothes, school supplies, food, your time or kind words, etc. They’ll be much appreciated. Please help us.
It is a country where 54% of the populations live below the International Poverty Line of less than $1.25 US per day ( according to WFP 2010) and the literacy rate is only 58% (According to World Bank 2008). Children are deprived of their basic right to education due to poverty and underdeveloped infrastructure. Therefore; there exist socio-economic problems such as child and bonded labor, girl trafficking and discrimination against women and female children. Even though an estimated 41% of the population are undernourished (World Food Program 2010), the people still offer the most magnificent smiles and guests in this country are warmly welcomed.
